Step by Step Instructions for Replacing your Topside Control Panel and Overlay!
Step 1: Make Sure the Power to the Hot Tub/Swim Spa is Off
Prior to changing anything electric on the hot tub or swim spa, it is important the power to the unit is turned off for safety purposes. If the power is turned on, it's possible you can be shocked or break other electrical components.
Step 2: Use a Thin Razor Blade to Break the Seal
Carefully use a thin razor blade and slide it around the entire perimeter of the topside control panel to break the adhesive seal on the backend.
Step 3: Life the Topside Panel Off of the Shell
Once the seal is broken, you can pull the topside control panel off of the acrylic shell.
Step 4: Unplug the Topside Control Panel
Once the topside control panel is off of the shell, you will find it has a wire on the back that runs down and plugs into a harness coming from the circuit board. Unplug the topside control panel from the harness.
Step 5: Clean the Surface of the Shell
Gently clean the surface of the acrylic shell of adhesive residue from the old topside control panel. Do not use any abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish on the shell.
Step 6: Plug the New Topside Control Panel in
Connect the wire from the new Topside Control Panel to the harness where you unplugged the old one.
Step 7: Install the New Topside Control Panel
Remove the sticker on the back of the new topside control panel to expose the adhesive layer. Use the template provided with the new topside control panel and place on the acrylic shell. Hold down for a minute or two to make sure the seal is evenly pressed to the shell.
Step 8: Complete
Replacing your Old Overlay Sticker:
To replace the old overlay sticker, begin by removing the old one. You can do this by peeling it off of the surface on the front of the topside control panel. You may have to carefully use a razor blade if it is on there tight.
Once the old overlay sticker is removed, use a non-abrasive cleaner to clean the adhesive residue off of the front of the topside control panel.
Once cleaned, you can peel the sticker off the back of the new one. Then place it correctly, lined up on the topside control panel and hold down to make sure the seal is on tight.
