Step by Step Instructions for Removing Old Filter Standpipes from your Hot Tub or Swim Spa!
Older Master Spa Hot Tubs and Swim Spas used two black standpipes to help keep the filters in place during use. They have since become "No Longer Available", and have been replaced with newer style filters that thread directly into the two holes at the bottom of the filter compartment.
Step 1: Make Sure Power to the Unit is Off
Turning the power to the unit off helps ensure you don't damage or disrupt any of the equipment on your hot tub or swim spa.
Step 2: Using Both Hands, Grip the Filter Standpipe
Using both hands will help make sure you're evenly distributing force to safely remove the filter standpipes and prevent them from breaking. It's important to be careful as older filter standpipes may be brittle from chemical oxidation and can be easily broken or the threads being stuck in the holes.
Step 3: Turn the Standpipes Counterclockwise
While using both hands, turn the standpipes counterclockwise to unthread them from the holes at the bottom of the filter compartment.
Step 4: Once Fully Unthreaded, Pull Standpipes out of Water.
Once the threads have safely been unthreaded from the holes at the bottom of the filter compartment, you can take them out of the hot tub.
